Drinking Fountain

This medieval town preserved one of its ancient drinking fountains in its townhall courtyard. The porous sand stone has soaked up the water, which makes it look black.

Reminders of Spring

It snowed again last night in NJ, a good time to dig out pictures of spring.

The statue of Ikarus on the column is for Count Zeppelin who invented and built the blimp. He was born in Konstanz. Nowadays, blimps are built in Friedrichshafen at the other end of the lake. They do daily tours above the lake for tourists. Check out the link behind the title.

Cymbidium

Our cymbidiums are in bloom right now up here in 'it snows again' land.

Decor

A sample of our very ecclectic decor decisions: my grandmother's armoire and wall clock, my in-laws' mirror, and a small table that I found in my mother's attic. Long term plan: to find Floridian motifs for the frames which house Prairie Indians right now. The bamboo will go out into the lanai when we have more orchids. The basket is Cherokee from the Carolinas, and the hat is from French Polynesia.

Cold Front

This morning: 8 degrees F in NJ, 42 in Central Florida

Winter in Fl means citrus, kumquat (photo), the occasional cold snap which forces you to protect all your tropicals planted in the illusion of living at the equator. When the cold is over, you move back into the cocoon of your subtropical paradise.
This photo was taken in NJ a few years ago under similar weather conditions. Believe me, I would never go out at our present low temperatures and fiddle with a camera.

The Chandelier

Unfortunately, the wires are twisted sisters, both of them. It happened when they lengthened the wires in the warehouse for our high ceiling. There will be an aftermath.
