St. Barths (1)

Fort Carl protected the capital Gustavia from attackers. Gustavia is a lovely, very clean and rather expensive town. All the roofs seemed to be new, maybe replaced after a terrible hurricane in 1995.
Gustavia's harbor is hidden behind a promontary. The names have their origin in the Swedish period which brought prosperity to St. Barths in the 19th century.
This time, our cruise ship is the biggest guy. Check out the fourth cruise ship in the next photo. It has five masts. St.Martin is visible in the background.

Bougainvillea abound in the dry soil.

Two of our tenders.
