Coconut Plantations

In Nuku Hiva, the Aranui stopped at dawn's early light in a beautiful bay with a coconut plantation. The barges were busy transporting copra bags to the ship and unloading some freight.

In the dark, I saw the lights of the pickup trucks approaching the landing which was busy all morning long.
These are the remnants of another plantion on an ancient dance platform in Hatiheu Bay. The aluminum sleeve on the trunk protects the nuts from being eaten by rats.
