Ua Huka

Ua Huka is the driest of the islands with wonderfully refreshing air to breathe. The Aranui chuggs into a narrow canyon that is completely hidden, then turns around on the spot. The sailors jump onto the walls of the canyon to attach ropes on both sides which keep the Aranui in place. At the pier of the first village at the back of the canyon, the locals set up tables to wait for the freight they had ordered. The ladies' committee gives a welcome speech and dance in the small museum garden.

On the road to the next village, we take a walk in the botanical garden while the drivers take a break.
